Hello world!! (+ CAA blogging team peoplez!! ). My name is Morehshin and I am an interdisciplinary artist, an art activist, photographer, video artist, and a digital designer. I was born and raised in Iran and moved to the United States in Fall 2007 to study MA in Digital Media Studies at the University of Denver. Currently I'm a first year M.F.A candidate in Interdisciplinary Arts and Media at Columbia College Chicago. I also work at our department as a workaide and teach a final cut pro workshop. So hey!! I can help if you ever have video capturing/editing questions! One important part of my work is related to the social and political issues of Iran specifically women, censorship, identity, and in general the social issues of the today Iran. Since I have moved to the U.S., I have been working on intercultural projects, addressing my daily life as an Iranian in the United States of post 9/11.

Theory and research are also two very important elements of my art making. I enjoy
conceptual art and am specifically interested in maintaining the balance of both theory and practice in my artwork.

One of the projects that I have been working on for the last two years is called Dialogue: presented by IRUS art (an intercultural collaborative art show between artists in Iran and the United States). I have served as the curator and one of the artists of this show. We are going to have a show in Chicago January 29th at the Co-Prosperity Sphere gallery. So yes! I'm inviting you to join us for our opening. It will be a great way to meet and get to know each other. Check out the below links for more info:

CAA
I have never been to CAA conference before, but I'm really excited to have an active role in the conference and have the opportunity to learn from scholars and artists and also get to know all the bloggers of our team . I'm new to Chicago, so for sure being able to get involved with new art communities is a big plus for me!

Here are some of the panels that I really really want to go to:

Public Interactivity
