PJ BOROWIEC, Fine Art major, writes: I'm incredibly excited! I have planned what I'm packing and am finishing up the last bits of reading, yet I still can't comprehend actually being in China. I spoke with my grandpa, who had been to Shanghai many times in the distant past (he was a sailor and later a ship engineer), and he was eager for me to go and explore how much the city has changed over the years. I'm planning on bringing my cameras so I can document close to everything. I promise not to be too over the top about it, though. or do I?...
I'm definitely anxious about not being able to read signs or communicate effectively, but I think with the phrases we have been given to practice and my friend's dictionary, there is some hope.
I have been burning CDs of music and am hoping to meet people in Shanghai to either trade with or just give them to. If it comes up at all, I'd like to find out about the music scene there.
