Final Teaching with Technology Presentation

The Center for Instructional Technology and the Center for Teaching Excellence are co-sponsoring a series of presentations during the 2007-2008 school year called "Teaching with Technology". These sessions will feature panels comprised of the current CIT Technology and OASIS fellows discussing their technology-based projects.

In this final session, PETER THOMPSON and TOM SHIRLEY will present their new set of web-based “Digital Imaging Take-Home Professor” tutorials this Thursday, April 17 at 4PM in the Faculty Center on the 8th floor of the Alexandroff Campus Center.

• Their tutorials focus on the Camera Raw digital camera format, and are comprised of twenty-two web-based, Quicktime screencasts with accompanying downloadable PDF manuals. (Their earlier set of seventeen web-based tutorials focus on the Photoshop workflow and are being used not only by Columbia College teachers and students but by institutions and individuals ranging from India to Italy. Both sets of tutorials now form a resource with thirty-four texts and a total duration of 322 minutes).

For the Thursday presentation:

• Peter will address the roles of faculty and student learning styles and instructional systems design in the creation of the tutorials, and the application of both to the teaching of digital imaging in the Photography Department.

• Tom will address the development of the assessment vehicle that increased the performances of teachers and students in the Photography Department.

These projects have been supported by Technology Fellowship Awards.
