Student bands in their words -- SouLatina
SouLatina is an up and coming latin/jazz/soul group from Chicago, Illinois.
“They came together in 2005 when meeting in a Columbia College Latin Ensemble Class directed under Ruben Alvarez. After going to Puerto Rico to study with FANIA'S own Luis "Perrico" Ortiz , Charlie Sepulveda and the great Eddie Gomez, they became inspired to pursue Latin music outside of the educational walls.
This group of young talented musicians will always keep you entertained. Whether its rhymes/spoken word coming from the bassist, dancing from the three young women, the percussionists provoking the audience with their ethnic rhythms or the sight of females playing male dominated instruments , this group will definitely have you out on the dance floor all night long!”
