Printers' Ball a Smashing Success

Chicago, IL (August 3, 2009) – Friday night’s Printers’ Ball at Columbia was a wildly successful event. We know because we were there and so were almost 2,000 other folks.

The event featured readings by faculty, staff and students at Columbia as well as papermaking and printmaking demos by Columbia's Center for Book and Paper Arts and Anchor Graphics. Attendees also enjoyed music and massive give-aways of a huge variety of literary publications. Check out the full listing of readers at the college's press release archive.

Chicago Lit scene blogger Amy Guth was there as well and on her Chicago Subtext blog (which can be found at the Tribune’s Chicago Now site) she says:

“Printers' Ball was fabulous! Tons of people came out to support the many small presses represented, the book-making and screen-printing demonstrations were excellent, the events (Quickies! Reading Series with a representative from several of Chicago's many reading series and Literary Death Match-- both personal favorites) were lively and fun and by all accounts, a fine time was had by all.”

Amy conducted many video interviews at the Ball. Check them out at Chicago Subtext.
