Posted on: April 13, 2007

Guest writing and editing professionals Keidra Chaney and Marina Lewis will visit Columbia to look over writing samples and writing portfolios-in-progress. The guests will advise students on organizing and formatting text-oriented portfolios and give feedback to writers on the work itself.

More about our guests:

Keidra Chaney is a freelance writer and editor who has written primarily for the web and independent and alternative publications after a brief stint in trade magazines. She has written for Bitch: Feminist Response to Pop Culture, Blackvoices.com, Chicagoist.com, Colorlines, Not for Tourists.com, Venus Zine.com. She is a former section editor at the now-defunct Clamor Magazine, and editor at the soon-to-be-launched Chicago 6 Corners.com.

Marina Lewis is the Associate Editor of the nationally distributed, award winning literary journal, Other Voices, and serves as a Senior Editor for OV Books. She is a writer whose fiction and non- fiction have appeared in numerous journals including the Indiana Review and the Chicago Reader, and her first editorial position was at TriQuarterly in Evanston, Illinois.

This discussion is open to all students and alumni of Columbia College Chicago. Participating students must send two writing samples to mgreen@colum.edu no later than Tuesday, April 17th at 5pm.

Feedback sessions begin at 11am in the Portfolio Center, 623 S Wabash, Room 307.
