Louisiana, Here We Come

Busride.jpg

Happy Easter! We just left Memphis and are on the way to New Orleans. At IHOP this morning, I mistakenly ordered chocolate chip pancakes without knowing they make it with chocolate batter. It was pretty intense. Last night I met a lot of new people, which has added to my excitement about the week. I am definitely not prepared emotionally or mentally; I don’t even know what to expect. All I know is that I am going to gain a little bit more of an insight on the person that I am trying to become.

I came to Chicago as an 18-year-old from suburbia not knowing a soul, and now I am meeting all of these shining personalities, which makes me really happy.

It is also turning into spring and the idea of everything blossoming and coming back to life puts a smile on my face. I can’t wait until the summer and being able to go hiking and camping with everyone. It is so hard to believe that I have almost completed my first year of college—I still remember my first day of kindergarten! Where did all of this time go? Blows my mind, man.

Anyways, I am to the point of rambling, so let me just say that I am quite eager to lend my helping hands and talk with the citizens of New Orleans and all the while continuing to get to know everyone in the next week. It is no doubt going to be difficult at times, but I say bring it on.

Well done! Your nobel and outstanding efforts towards bettering the lives of the forgotten victims of Hurricane Katrina are to be highly commended. Your blog also forces us all to realize that this disaster is far from over for the people of New Orleans.

Keep up the good Work!
