Submission Guidelines for South Loop Review: Creative Nonfiction + Art 2012 Creative Nonfiction Essay Contest

Award: $1,000 and publication in our September 2012 (Volume 14) issue.
Judging: Ander Monson will judge the contest and the winner will be announced to the public by June 1, 2012. All writers who enter will be notified by email of the judge’s decision.
Submission Guidelines for South Loop Review: Creative Nonfiction + Art Print Magazine
South Loop Review’s reading period is now closed. We are not accepting submissions postmarked from May 1 to September 1. Your submission will be returned to you during that time.
Our new reading period will begin on September 1.
Simultaneous submissions accepted. The response time varies according to the number of submissions received. We also accept email submissions through Tell It Slant our new submissions management firm.
We do not accept:
· work that is more than 20 text pages
· work that has been previously
published
· more than two (2) text works per
submission year
· more than five (5)
photographic/artistic works
We are looking for diverse voices. We publish essays and memoir, lyric and experimental forms, non-linear narratives and blended genre.
Photographers and artists are highly encouraged to submit their work. We are looking for photography and art that creates a strong resonance. We ask that photographers and artists submit an 8x10 photo copy of your work. If accepted, we will request a high resolution jpg.
We recommend that you look at an issue before submitting.

SLR Online is looking for work that is more contemporary in voice and aesthetics. We welcome experimental forms of creative nonfiction such as segmented essays, montage memoir, illustrated or graphic memoir, and short form creative nonfiction. We encourage blended genre submissions such as photo essays and blogs. We are also looking for pieces that tell a story through image + word. SLR Online does not publish artwork or photography.
All submissions should be sent as an attachment in a .doc (or any variation of a Word document) format to:
