The Center for Community Arts Partnerships (CCAP) was established in 1998 to support Columbia's commitment to civic engagement and service learning, bringing the creative experience of art to all partners involved. Through reciprocal partnerships with community-based organizations and public schools in Chicago and Evanston, CCAP facilitates opportunities for Columbia students and faculty to collaborate on developing and implementing youth-arts and literacy programming in these communities. Current initiatives include Urban Missions, Saturday Scholars, Arts Integration Mentorship Project (Project AIM), Community Schools, the Arts in Youth and Community Development (AYCD) graduate program (offered through the AEMM department), and the Illinois Parent Information Resource Center (funded by the U.S. Department of Education).
